On 15 October 2026, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, joined Dr. the Hon. Michael Darville, Minister of Health and Wellness of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas; Mr. Charles Sealy, Managing Director of the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA); and Mr. Keith Philippe, Head of the Technical Assistance and Project Management Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), at a conference to introduce two upcoming seminars in China: the Seminar on Public Health and Hospital Management for The Bahamas and the Multilateral Seminar on Capacity Development for Exporting to China. The conference was attended by representatives of ZNS, Our News, The Nassau Guardian, and various independent media outlets.

In her remarks, Ambassador Yan expressed satisfaction that China-Bahamas relations had developed steadily in recent years, with deepening political mutual trust, increasingly close exchanges across various fields, and expanding practical cooperation. She highlighted healthcare as an important area of bilateral cooperation in recent years and the promotion of trade as a key priority for both countries. She expressed confidence that the seminars would strengthen The Bahamas’ human resource capacity, support its national development, and foster greater mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and The Bahamas.

Dr. the Hon. Michael Darville, Mr. Charles Sealy, expressed their appreciation for the Chinese Government’s endeavors in South-South cooperation and its support for The Bahamas’ economic and social development, particularly in the healthcare sector. They also expressed The Bahamas’ interest in China’s experience and best practices in public health, especially digital healthcare.

Participants in the upcoming seminars in China were  present at the conference.
